Primrose Cottage is located 3 miles from the centre of historic Launceston and just 10 minutes’ drive from the A30. The accommodation is centrally located and well placed in its enviable position in the heart of Cornish countryside offering beautiful views of the Tamar Valley AONB and beyond together with woodland walks down to the bank of the River Tamar where salmon can be fished.
The quality guest accommodation has recently undergone refurbishment and offers three private suites, each with its own access. The Garden Room is on the ground floor while another suite, The Stable, is in a separate annexe from the main house.
Primrose Cottage studio apartments are a great base from which to explore Cornwall and nearby Devon. There are beaches, moors, attractions, gardens and historic properties in abundance to discover alongside numerous activities to try out. Cornwall holds events year-round, ranging from the world famous Boardmasters Festival to the smaller local events celebrating Cornwall’s rich heritage and culture.
Launceston has its own castle, placed in the centre of town, one of the best small museums in the South West, housed in a National Trust property plus a renowned church, St Mary Magdalene. The town has its own wealth of history, culture, and family attractions such as the steam railway and otter park waiting to be experienced. The annual Charles Causley Festival celebrates the poet who was born, lived and worked in Launceston.
When it's time to kick back and recharge batteries, peaceful Primrose Cottage has extensive gardens and woodlands to relax and wander in. Fishing is permitted on the River Tamar, a salmon and trout fishery. Fly fishing permits are available with a personal rod licence.
This pretty, extended cottage dates back to the 1700’s, the original thick walls being constructed of cob, a soil and straw based building material. Today the guest suites are well furnished, comfortable, ight, bright apartments catering for guest requirements.
• The Garden Room suite is a ground floor apartment with its own private external access. The suite comprises an en-suite shower room, large twin bedroom and private lounge with TV, fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.
• The Tamar View suite is a first-floor apartment with its own private external access. The suite comprises an en-suite bath and shower room, double bedroom and private lounge with TV, fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.
• The Stable suite is a ground and first floor annexe apartment separate from the main house with its own private front door. The suite comprises a very large en-suite bath and shower room, a kitchenette with fridge and tea and coffee making facilities, a queen sized double bedroom downstairs and a fabulous private lounge upstairs with TV. The lounge benefits from far-reaching views across the Tamar Valley to Devon.
Within the local area there are plenty of places to enjoy locally produced food and drink. Local shops, markets and farm shops provide an array of delicious, award winning fare. Guests at Primrose Cottage can start the day with a full Cornish breakfast, together with cereals, fruit and breads. Gluten free diets can be accommodated with advance notice.
