Tavistock Library


Tavistock Library is located opposite the bus station, close to the Wharf and town centre. The library offers a fun and vibrant environment, with a warm welcome to everyone. There are lots of activities for children including story time, Bounce and Rhyme for babies and toddlers and after school Lego Club. The Home Ed group meets at the library every Tuesday morning and there is a regular Chatterbooks reading group, plus lots more going on over the summer holidays.

For older customers there are scrabble groups, several Reading groups that meet regularly and one to one support with IT. The library also provides 18 public access computers, Wi-Fi, printing and photocopying and tea and coffee is available for a small donation.

You can reserve books and other items from our huge network of public libraries in Devon accessing thousands of books for a small fee.

If what you’re looking for is out on loan, you can reserve your item for a small charge and we’ll let you know when it’s ready to collect from your local library. 

You can also use RBdigital to download free magazines, and OverDrive and BorrowBox for eBooks and eAudio.

You can access all of your account information online, so you can renew any borrowed books, download eBooks, audiobooks, music and magazines at the touch of a button.

All of our libraries offer free computer use, plus free Wi-Fi and printing facilities.

Join our friendly groups to meet new people and share your love of reading.

Many of our libraries have reasonably priced meetings rooms for hire at competitive rates.

Our Business and IP Centres offer support, workshops and resources for early stage businesses.
