Burrator Reservoir View of Burrator

Undisturbed Burrator is surrounded by mixed woodland which sharply contrasts with the open moor and rugged Dartmoor tors. The reservoir is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders due to its wealth of footpaths and bridleways. Many of the trails lead on to Dartmoor so it makes an ideal starting point for longer trips.

The Charles Causley Festival

2018’s annual Charles Causley Festival (the 9th one!) is on its way, with an attractive and varied programme offering something for everyone. It runs from the evening of Thursday 31 May  until the evening of Sunday 3 June 2018.

The headline opening attraction for this year is the well-known and well-loved poet and broadcaster, Roger McGough — accompanied by LITTLe MaCHINe, firm Festival favourites who have supported headline poets in previous Causley Festivals. 

Cotehele (National Trust) The front of Cotehele House, Cornwall

Cotehele is a National Trust-owned Tudor house with extensive garden, orchards, estate, quay and working water mill. The garden and estate walks are open daily throughout the year. The house is open daily from April to the beginning of November. The mill is open every day from mid March to the end of October.

Welcome to the enchanted world of Charlie Bears

Charlie Bears are affordable, collectable bears and characters designed by Charlie at The Bearhouse in Cornwall. Charlie also collaborates with other world-renowned bear artists to create different collections. All Charlie Bears are limited in production, and our special collections often have very low editions. Lovingly made by hand, each bear has their own unique characteristics and that is why only Charlie Bears are known as the bears with personalities.

Cotehele boat trips Nancy Belle on the River Tamar at Cotehele

Hotel Endsleigh Gardens

It’s Little Wonder

that the Duke of Bedford, who two centuries ago owned a third of Devon, chose this spot for his hunting and fishing lodge. Overlooking the River Tamar and beyond into Cornwall, Endsleigh, now owned by Olga Polizzi, is set in 108 acres of gardens, woodlands, follies and grottos created by Humphrey Repton.

Designed 200 years ago this was one of Humphry Repton’s last commissions and brings together a multitude of landscaping elements for which Repton was renowned.

The Edgcumbe tea-room on Cotehele Quay is open daily from 10am to 4pm. After a brisk walk enjoy a light lunch and a glass of wine or an afternoon cream tea. Your dog is also welcome.
